I am a planner and economic development specialist. I have worked for over 20 years in urban planning, economic development and community revitalization across the United States. I am one of less than five known consultants in the United States to hold professional certifications in both planning and economic development.
My expertise includes fiscal impact analysis, economic diversification strategies, market analysis and economic structure analysis, comprehensive planning and public participation. I have also invented new processes to elicit useful and constructive feedback for a variety of settings using my previous experience as a journalist and an English teacher. I was also sole proprietor of a cultural resources management consulting fim in northern Wisconsin.
I have enjoyed reading your posts and following your logic. So much so I added you to my blog roll at http://www.UrbanLessons.org. Our intent is the same although we have different audiences. But they do have things in common.
Good luck and keep writing.

Tom: Thanks for the very kind words!
It turns out that Tom is involved in development in downtonwn Houston, Texas. His blog looks like interesting stuff! For some reason the web link in his comment did not work; his blog can be found at

Thank you for posting on the University of Cincinnati Alumni Linked-In site. I confess, it was the first post I have ever followed through on. I like to learn what other people are doing to make the economy and community better. Urban Planning is fascinating, and it is *finally* being used upon occasion here where I live with very good results; the boroughs of nyc are challenge.

Thanks, Jane! I certainly understand… it’s a challenge back in Ohio, too.
